TOP 8 REASONS TO HIRE A WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER

Let me first start off by saying that although I am biased considering I am a wedding videographer- I also just planned my own wedding with my husband so I know first hand how expensive weddings can be. I also know that they only happen once and how important it is to ensure that every important moment is documented properly! It can be easy to just try to cut corners on expenses, but I don’t think that a professional videographer should be something that you skip for your wedding day. Every person that I’ve known that had a videographer for their wedding, has said that it was worth every penny. For some reason, videographers are not always high up on couple’s lists of vendors but hopefully this list of reasons will change that.

Let’s hop right on in to my reasons why I believe that hiring a videographer for your wedding is a necessity.

#1 WEDDING FILMS HAVE CHANGED
Gone are the recordings of our parent’s weddings on an old camcorder where someone simply pressed “play”, left it rolling, and that was it. The videographers of today have truly evolved and made wedding films a form of art. Creating a beautiful film for the couples they’ve come to personally care for is so important to them. There is so much planning, editing, communication, audio mixing/mastering time that goes into every single film that you are guaranteed to have something that you LOVE to watch.

#2 YOUR VOWS AND TOASTS CANNOT BE PHOTOGRAPHED
Your ceremony and toasts will hands down be two of the most emotion-filled parts of your wedding day. While photos are absolutely amazing, you will want these moments filmed to enable you to be able to watch and listen to them over and over again for years to come.

#3 IT’S A GREAT KEEPSAKE FOR YOUR FAMILY
Your wedding film becomes an awesome family heirloom for all of your future generations to watch. This means that your wedding film isn’t just something for you as the couple, but it’s also a time capsule for all of your family members to enjoy as well!

#4 YOU HAVE SO MANY OPTIONS
In this day and age, there are so many different types of videographers and you are so lucky to have the amount of options that you do. You could hire a film student that is just starting out or a seasoned professional who’s been in the wedding business for years. There’s also different editing styles that you’ll be able to choose from: light + airy, dark + moody, slow-paced films, to upbeat and fast films. There is truly a videographer out there for every different type of couple and budget.

#5 YOU DON’T WANT TO HAVE REGRETS
According to a study by Zola, the #1 thing that couples regretted in regards to their wedding was not hiring a videographer or wishing that they had spent more on one if they had.

#6 YOUR VIDEOGRAPHER WILL CAPTURE THE MOMENTS (& PEOPLE!) YOU WILL MISS
It’s true what they say: your wedding day does go by in the blink of an eye. You WILL miss some of the things happening throughout the day because of everything going on. Your videographer will capture all of those in between moments that you won’t see: your fiancé getting ready, your fiancé (and guests’) reactions to you walking down the aisle, the detail shots of all of the decor you spent MONTHS organizing and preparing, your grandma smiling from ear to ear all night… those are the moments your videographer will ensure that you have preserved. This is the ONE time that all of your favorite people will be in the same place at the same time. Throughout the years, you will inevitably lose some of your loved ones; and having your wedding footage to remember the great times that you had is truly priceless.

#7 FILM CAPTURES MOVEMENT THAT STILL PHOTOS CANNOT
Please don’t think I am knocking wedding photography - but a wedding film adds something extra that photos just can’t. Like hearing your bridesmaid’s gasp when they see you for the first time, or your handwritten vows, or even the funny moments! A wedding videographer is able to discreetly record all of these moments using wireless lapel microphones so that you are able to remember them forever.

#8 YOU CAN SHARE IT WITH PEOPLE THAT WERE UNABLE TO ATTEND
Unfortunately, not everyone that you love will be able to attend your wedding. A wedding film gives you the chance to share your special day and make them feel as if they WERE there!

Ultimately, whether or not you decide to hire a videographer for your wedding day is entirely up to you and your fiancé.

Your wedding is truly an event to showcase the love between you both, and having a wedding film as a time capsule to go back and relive every memory and emotion is so special.
